OSHA Compliance

Reminder: New Compliance Standard for HazCom
In less than two weeks, effective Dec. 1, 2013, employers are required to have trained employees on new hazard communication labeling elements (pictograms, hazard statements, precautionary statements and signal words) and Safety Data Sheet formats adopted by OSHA. This requirement is part of the new Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. It is important to note that OSHA is bringing U.S. into alignment with the GHS with the goal of furthering to protect American workers (click here for fact sheet). Training should include:
• What is GHS?
• Understanding GHS labels
• Safety Data Sheets (formerly MSDS)
